Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quynh Thien inspects the waste burial case at Tra Cu

According to Colonel Ngo Tuan Tu, Deputy Head of Division 3, Environmental Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, Head of the inspection team, a large amount of untreated waste was discovered buried in the factory hazardous waste treatment premises of Tra Vinh Environment Company Limited in Tra Lés hamlet, Thanh Son commune, Tra Cu district. Following that, the unit coordinates with functional forces to take samples to send for analysis and wait for the final results. The measures will then be decided per the laws.

Previously, by professional measures, a large volume of untreated waste, including ash, slag, sewage sludge, and industrial solid waste (with a volume of about 15,000 tons) was discovered by the functional authority. The untreated waste was buried underground in the campus of Tra Vinh environmental company and disguised with soil and sand on the surface, which the company did.

Speaking at the inspection, Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien suggested that the functional and local authorities need to coordinate and support the delegation to quickly clarify the case, about which the public is deeply concerned. The inspection and handling process should be conducted per regulations to protect Tra Vinh province's environment best.
