Duc My handicraft village at Duc My commune, Cang Long district was recognized under Decision No. 1813/QD-UBND dated on November 28, 2007 of Tra Vinh province People’s Committee. 

Duc My commune borders Tien river with Rach Bang rivulet mouth which is favorable for traders to trade, transport material, agricultural products to Ben Tra, Vinh Long, Tien Giang province and Ho Chi Minh City… To promote its advantages, in recent time, the commune was invested in infrastructure to widen handicraft village toward sustainable orientation. The commune transferred 30 ha land from ineffective trees to rush. Total rush area of the commune is 1.220 ha with average output of 8 tons/ha. Every year, the village produce over 150.000 products made from rush, water hyacinth and coconut…to serve daily demand and export decorated items. 

The development of Duc My handicraft village promoted family economic development, changed planting structure, increased rice productivity, increased income and changed rural appearance.
